The Funplex in East Hanover is perfect for a New Year’s Eve with kids ages 7 and up. The Morris County First Night, which is in its 27th year, features 70 performance events at 22 venues within walking distance of each other in Morristown. Performances range from music and dance to world cultures and children’s programs, and the event is substance-free. The event begins at 4:45 p.m., with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. and midnight. Parking and shuttle buses are free. Tickets are $25 each and offer package deals.
Crystal Springs Resort in Vernon
There’s a family party at the Diamond Ballroom at the Crystal Springs Resort! The party will feature DJ entertainment, a cash bar, dancing, games, a roaming magician, and a balloon artist. Ocean City offers a First Night celebration with rides at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and fireworks. New Year’s at Noon at the Garden State Discovery Museum
The hands-on Garden State Discovery Museum is great any day of the year, but on New Year’s Eve they offer a singing, dancing countdown celebration! Head over to Cherry Hill for either of two countdowns – there’s one beginning at 11:45 for a countdown to noon, and one beginning at 2:45 for 3:00 p.m. The museum is open until 5:30. Admission is $14.95 for anyone over 1 year old and $13.95 for seniors, but kids who come in their PJs between 11am and noon on NYE are free!
