Squatchy Leftovers 5K and 10K run takes place Nov. 24 in West Orange. The Thanksgiving feast is over, Black Friday is done; now it’s time for you to get off the couch, leave the stores and head over to the trails! Join us on Saturday November 24, 2018 at the South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, NJ for The Squatchy Leftovers 5K & 10K trail run! This is a free fun run event: in lieu of a registration fee, we will be collecting donations for “Operation Chillout” and will finish the race with a potluck–bring your favorite post-race food or your Thanksgiving leftovers to share with everyone! Race Details This is a runner/hiker friendly event and definitely family-friendly! Sign up for the 5K and run/hike 1 loop or sign up for the 10K and run/hike 2 loops. The 2018 Collingswood Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, November 24th beginning at 10 am running along Haddon Avenue beginning at Zane Avenue. Named Best Main Street Experience by South Jersey Magazine, the parade features lively seasonal entertainment, including marching bands, dancers, holiday characters, giants on stilts, floats, mummers, live music—even sports mascots like the Phillie Phanatic. The parade, packed with bands, dancers, entertainers, floats and more, will begin at Zane Avenue at 10 am and continue to West Linden Avenue, through the heart of historic Collingswood. Cars from the Original Garden State Corvette Club and dozens of other antique and historic autos and motorcycles will drive down the parade route. The Phillie Phanatic and other Philadelphia Sports mascots will ride along also. Dance to marching bands, Mummers, string bands and oldies tunes to keep warm. This is the Monmouth Museum’s 31st year presenting the popular Holiday Model Trains display in their Main Gallery of the Museum. This is one of the most unique Train Exhibitions in the world because it is surrounded by an International Juried Art Exhibition, this year’s theme is, Fabulous Food, which includes a display of Kids Works who have created pieces in the Green Arts Studio of their favorite Holiday Foods! The display runs from Nov. 18 through Dec. 30. The trains have 6 lines on 3 levels, with over 1200 scale feet of track. The model train layout includes an airport and Jersey Shore seaside boardwalk amusement park. Much of the community is represented by the various real estate named for local businesses and families. The Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders assemble the Holiday Model Trains and create numerous upgrades and additions to this ever-expanding display. The exhibition is designed for kids of all ages, with interactive buttons accessible for their height. Participating wineries will give away holiday grapevine wreaths and decorative ornaments to dress the wreath with. Wine trail travelers will receive a wreath and ornament at their first winery stop of the weekend, and then additional ornaments from each participating winery visited thereafter Friday through Sunday. Wreaths and ornaments are available only at participating wineries and a limited supply exists. Each winery will also have their own special offers and entertainment.
