From Downtown After Sundown: Jazz On Sloan Presents Swing Town Big Band in Downtown After Sundown. South Orange Village Center Alliance invites you to dine and dance under the stars as we present Downtown After Sundown in the Live Music Capital of North Jersey. Big Band will be in Spiotta Park. Join us under the Gazebo on Fridays for Jazz on Sloan and in Spiotta Park on Saturdays where every style of music from acoustic to zydeco, jazz to flamenco will be represented. Concerts kick off Memorial weekend through Labor Day, every Friday and Saturday evening from 7:00pm to 10pm. From Boonton Fire Department Labor Day Carnival and Parade: The Town of Boonton Fire Department is celebrating its 128th year. It will continue the tradition of sponsoring a Carnival and Parade throughout Labor Day Weekend. The four-day carnival at Boonton High School will start on Thursday, August 29th 6-11:59 p.m., with pay-one-price rides from Blue Sky Amusements for children and adults, food tents, and games. Admission will be free. Purchase a wristband for the rides one hour before the carnival opens and will continue to sell throughout the carnival weekend. Carnival hours Friday, Aug. 31, 6-11:59 p.m.; Saturday 1:30pm – 11:59pm and Sunday, 3-11:59 p.m. More information
From St. Bartholomew’s: Perhaps the best-kept secret in New Jersey is the traditional Annual Labor Day Italian Feast in Scotch Plains. Hosted by the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Chapter of UNICO, St. Bartholomew’s Church, and St. Bartholomew’s Academy, the festival has been an annual tradition honoring San Nicola di Bari, the patron saint of the town of Montazzoli, Italy, since 1974. The feast is truly a great family event and has something for everyone to enjoy. There is nightly live music, rides, games, and great food, including favorites like pizza, pasta, zeppoles, clams, mussels, and calzones. In addition, there are nightly 50/50 drawings and a super 50/50 raffle on Monday. More information
