From Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari: Enjoy thrills and activities for the whole family throughout the day and come back for a truly frightening evening of fun after the sun goes down. Fright Fest offers a wide variety of places to get your scare on including seven haunted mazes and five scare zones located throughout the park. The stuff of nightmares lurk around every corner as the dark of night washes over the park. The ghouls are set free for their daily hunting rituals. More information.
From Riverview Live: Riverview Restaurant’s “Oktoberfest” this year isn’t just about great beer and better food (though of course that’s a given). While you socialize and sip, get into the German spirit with The Alpine Trio– an ‘Om Pah Pah’ Band led by Gene Tirpak, an accordionist who has been entertaining audiences, playing German Festivals, Polish, Italian, Irish, Jewish and special events in the tri-state area for years. Admission to see the band is free of charge in our garden space. Oktoberfest beers are on tap, and our traditional German-style Oktoberfest menu is available for $29.99 by reservation. From Morey’s Piers and Waterparks: Oktoberfest festivities will take place at Mariner’s Pier with special German themed menus, an outdoor “biergarten,” live entertainment, a kids “Rootbier Garten” activity area and much more. A kid’s zone with a “Rootbier Garten” will be set-up near the Wave Swinger and kids can enjoy a variety of activities including a pumpkin and cookie decorating station. From Eventbrite: This year will mark the 45th Anniversary of this signature Madison, NJ event. This event has continued to grow every year since it was first established in 1974 by Mayor Elizabeth Baumgartner. The event runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm but the DDC Beer Garden will remain open until 6:00 pm. There will be great food options as well including the Food Court on Cook Avenue, other food vendors throughout the festival, local restaurants and a Food Truck Court on Kings Road. More information

From the Essex County Parks Foundation: On Saturday, October 5th, the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo will host Ales ‘N Tails, a festive evening benefiting the Essex County Parks Foundation. Enjoy the live Oompah Band and sample dozens and dozens of seasonal brews from around the corner and around the world. Don’t forget to try samples of wine and spirits! From Luna Stage: Luna Stage kicks off their new American Voices Series (and the 2019-2020 season) with Soo Jin Pretty Nail (and more!), written and performed by South Orange resident Susan Hyon and directed by David Skeist. This darkly comic work is inspired by Hyon’s childhood as the youngest of four unhappy Korean-American children in suburban Pennsylvania. A lively, interactive experience for curious and adventurous theatergoers, Soo Jin… will be the inaugural performance in the newly-renovated Luna2. Suggested for mature students, ages 16 and older.
