Q: What’s better than a monthly live music series that donates their show proceeds to fight hunger?
A: It doesn’t get much better.
On Friday, January 12, Rent Party’s live show features Marry the Sea, Sharkhat, and The Linemen.
“2018, here we come!” writes founder Chris Dickson. “Great show to start the New Year… Marry The Sea is a collaborative effort made out of love for music and life. We’re delighted to welcome them to the Rent Party stage! Shark Hat is no stranger to the Rent Party stage. In fact, they played our very first show a million years ago. Glad to have them back! Last, but not least are The Linemen. Hard rocking group of veteran singer-songwriters from DC and NYC. Think Rockpile and John Hiatt have a love-child… It’s gonna be a terrific night and all the dough we raise helps fight hunger in our part of the world.”
In September 2017, Rent Party opened its ninth season with the legendary L.A. band The Blasters. Read a Village Green exclusive interview here.
Started in 2009, Rent Party is a live music series in Maplewood – South Orange. The proceeds from these shows help fight hunger in the community. Rent Party supports three local food pantries (Oheb Shalom, St. Joseph’s, and Our Lady of Sorrows). They built and maintain a large community garden on the front lawn of the South Orange Elks that raises fresh produce for the pantries they support. Their BackPack Pals program provides a weekend’s worth of nutritious food each week during the school year to about 100 food-insecure kids in our schools.
The show takes place at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12 at The Woodland, 60 Woodland Road in Maplewood. $10 minimum donation, but the more you give, the better you’ll feel!
