Branch Brook Park Readies for Cherry Blossom Festival Beginning April 7


The Cherry Blossom Festival get underway in Branch Brook Park April 7.


Though it may feel as if spring, and the beautiful blooms that accompany it, are a long way off, preparations are underway for annual the Cherry Blossom Festival inside Essex County’s Branch Brook Park.

Skip the trip to Washington D.C. (Newark actually boasts the largest cherry blossom collection in the United States) and savor the stunning scenery ride in your own backyard.Throughout the month of April, visitors can enjoy the gorgeous grounds, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the famed landscape architect and designer of Manhattan’s Central Park, as well as an array of activities that includes concerts, a bike race, and a 10K.

Encompassing 360 acres, the park, located on the National Registry of Historic Places, features ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, horseshoes, bocce courts, a jogging loop, and a children’s garden, making it a fun outing for all ages.
