‘Canna Booze’ Dinner at Jockey Hollow Aims to Make Diners Relaxed & Happy — Not High

Does dining out sometimes leave you stressed out? This might be just the ticket.

Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen will host its first “Canna Booze Dinner,” featuring food and cocktails infused with Cannabidiol or CBD, the non-psychoactive component of marijuana, on Wednesday, April 17 at 6.30 p.m.

The Morristown restaurant is holding the event in collaboration with Lock & Key Remedies, a Brooklyn-based company “whose goal is to bridge the gap between scientific research and consumers who are looking for a natural alternative to conventional medicine,” according to a press release.

The menu will feature four CBD-infused courses form Executive Chef Craig Polignano plus cocktails designed by Head Bartender James Gelmi “to enhance the already heady, convivial dining experience they create,” according to Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen Managing Partner Chris Cannon.

“We’re serving cocktails to drive home the point that many of the spirits we’re featuring were previously considered illicit and/or medicinal, much as cannabis is today,” said Chef Polignano.

CBD will be infused into the food and beverages at doses paced so that diners are not high by dessert, but “relaxed and happy,” said Oleg MaryAces, Lock & Key’s Director of Education and Marketing, who will be at the dinner to explain the properties of CBD.

Extracted from the cannabis plant, CBD is currently being touted for its health benefits for a variety of conditions, although studies have so far been inconclusive. Lock & Key Remedies says its products are formulated using hemp extracts that contain less than 0.3% THC, the compound in cannabis that gives people the feeling of being “high.”

“Don’t expect to feel high, but do expect to feel great!” according to the release.

Although between the “canna” and the booze, it might be wise for diners to Uber home after dinner.
