This burger joint, located alongside the Hackensack River, made Thrillist’s Best Burgers in America list, thanks to its juicy, retro style. If the dad in your life likes to keep things classic and casual, this is the perfect spot.

Known as the home of the famous “stuffed” cheeseburger, The Iron Horse has won the coveted Best Burger in the State award three times. The beer selection is pretty impressive too.
Cloverleaf Tavern – Caldwell
Operating continuously for 80 years, this tavern boasts award-winning burgers. If Dad’s already got plans for Sunday, enjoy The Cloverleaf’s burger deal on Monday when you can buy one Burger and get the second burger for half price. If your pop is in the mood for a real treat, the Blended Burger is back. This beauty features 25 percent short rib, 25 percent brisket, 25 percent chuck and 25 percent shiitake mushrooms. It’s grilled and topped with braised short rib, imported Irish cheese, mushroom Guinness gravy, crispy onions, arugula and rosemary-horseradish aoli. Is your mouth watering yet?
Blue Monkey Tavern – Merchantville
This tavern, which underwent a transformation in 2008, turns up the heat on pub classics – particularly its burger. Both its meat and veggie burgers garner rave reviews as does the beer selection.
30 Burgers – Princeton, and Dunellen
Talk about a recipe for success! 30 Burgers was founded in 2014 by the owners of 25 burger restaurants to “create a destination concept rivaling any burger joint in the country,” according to the chain’s website. Featuring a 7oz certified Angus beef burger, 30 burgers focuses on dressing up those patties with “innovative and tantalizing toppings, condiments, sauces, and anything else that tastes good on a burger!” If Dad likes the idea of customizing his lunch or dinner, here you go!
Lucky Bones – Cape May
The backwater grille is known for its fresh patties made to order as well as its Burger of the Month special.
