While Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have been touring nationally and internationally for over three decades, they got their start in Atlanta, holding court at the Little Five Points Pub. They developed a local following who quickly learned every word to songs such as “Land of Canaan,” “Closer to Fine” and “Pushing The Needle Too Far.” Michael Stipe of R.E.M. sang backup for the duo on their song “Kid Fears.”
Since then, they’ve released 15 studio albums, including “One Fine Day,” their 2015 release. They’ve toured with Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, R.E.M., Sarah MacLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Jewel and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
“Along with Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers rank at the very top of all-time great duos,” writes The Boston Herald.
Expect a roomful of enthusiastic fans at their shows. And don’t be surprised if audience members know most of the lyrics.
