Little Bear Poke Opens May 24 in Montclair

Little Bear Poke is officially opening in Upper Montclair on May 24. Located at 254 Bellevue Avenue, Little Bear Poke is all about serving fun, feel-good, responsibly sourced food. The team behind Little Bear Poke are a family: Noelle Hozumi and Bridget Placek are sisters, and Dave Placek is Bridget’s husband. Little Bear is the product of their passion for food, and they are dedicated to ensuring that their second home is a reliable, high quality dining destination where friends, moms, dads, and kids of all ages can come for a healthful, delicious, meal.
The core of Little Bear’s menu is Poke: fresh, raw fish bowls seasoned the way you like it. Fish is delivered daily to ensure freshness from Local 130 in Asbury Park, NJ. Little Bear offers Signature Bowls named after members of the family, like the Kenzo with arctic char, asparagus, and roasted macadamia nuts, served with a classic shoyu sauce and a hint of wasabi.
Little Bear also invites guests to build their own, made with the highest quality ingredients available. Onigiri, rice balls seasoned with sesame salt and wrapped in nori, are another menu staple.
Noelle and Bridget grew up eating these Japanese treats, and are thrilled to showcase them on Little Bear’s menu. Kids and those young at heart will enjoy the Shave Ice: mounds of fluffy ice flakes dressed in sweet, refreshing, house-made natural syrups.
“The development of our menu was a collaborative effort combining foods we know and love alongside the expertise of our friend and Hawaii-based chef John Adams, who owns one of the most popular restaurants on Kauai,” the owners note.
