Two wildly popular comedic talents are bringing their sharp political wit to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for an evening that promises “provocative hilarity.”
SAD! A Happy Evening with Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee comes to NJPAC for one night only on Saturday, December 2. Proceeds from the performance will benefit Montclair Film, New Jersey’s leading film non-profit and host of the annual Montclair Film Festival (April 27 – May 6, 2018)
Colbert made his name as the longest-tenured correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and later on his own Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report. Since 2015, he has been the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host and producer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Bee, who is also an alum of The Daily Show, launched her own series, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, in early 2016. In April 2017, she hosted the gala “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” which countered the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The event raised $200,000 for the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Both comedians have been extremely critical of Donald Trump’s presidency, using the politic landscape as a primary topic for their respective shows. Expect their on-stage discussion to address White House politics and other pressing current events.
