Over thirty downtown restaurants participated in Summit Downtown’s 10th Annual Restaurant Week with prix fixe menus, specials, and more. The week began with a special edition of Summit Street Sounds featuring live music throughout the downtown on Thursday, July 19. For the fourth year in a row, Summit Downtown, Inc. hosted a Restaurant Week Photo Contest. You can see all the delicious photos on Summit Downtown, Inc.’s Facebook page.
A delicious photo of Winberie’s Lobster Roll made with chunky lobster salad, lettuce, and avocado, on a New England roll served with coleslaw and French fries won Catherine Goncalves the Peoples’ Choice Award for 2018 (see above.)
Melanie Cohn, Executive Director of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, had the difficult task of choosing the Best in Show winner. Cohn remarked that it was a very difficult choice, but ultimately awarded Annie Stower’s photo of a sandwich from Batavia Café (see below) top honors. The winners can expect an email with directions on how to claim their prizes.
Summit Downtown, Inc. and the Visual Arts Center will be partnering with the Summit P.A.L. for Arts + Cars, a Summit Downtown Festival to be held on Sunday, September 16. From 10am to 4pm, the downtown streets will be lined with classic cars, artists and their wares for sale, live music on stage on Beechwood Road, andchildren’s activities. Interested in being a vendor? The application deadline is next week, August 15. Details can be found on the Visual Arts Center’s website.
