It’s been awhile since 1983.
After teasing their “Fiends” (Misfits fans) last Friday with a Misfits logo in the shape of New Jersey, the original members officially announced that they’ll be playing the Prudential Center in Newark on Saturday, May 19.
Founded in Lodi in 1977, The Misfits lineup features original members Glenn Danzig, guitarist Doyle (or Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein if you’d like to be formal) and bassist Jerry Only. The band has played recent shows with guitarist Acey Slade and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. The classic Misfits line-up hasn’t played in their home state for 35 years.
“The Misfits were so far ahead of their time when we began back in 1977, that it took the world forty years to catch up,” said Misfits bassist Jerry Only. “That time has come, and that time is now… We intend to take you on a ride back in time, and into the future to experience 100% authentic punk rock at its essence, and the origin of thrash in its purist form. History will be made — again. Prepare to be devastated…”
Suicidal Tendencies and Murphy’s Law will be opening the show. Tickets information is available here.
