Vegan and vegetarian alert!
There’s a new option in New Jersey for vegans, vegetarians and those seeking kosher baked goods. Cedar Ridge Café & Bakery on Ridgewood Road in Maplewood has re-opened after a brief hiatus.
“Our new hours are Tuesday-Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 9am to 2pm! The kitchen will be open all day, no more closing at 3pm! WE ARE OFFICIALLY A VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT with a TON OF VEGAN options,” the Café posted on social media. “We will be certified kosher by the end of September!”
“We are so excited to reopen with our new menu and we hope you are too!”
The beloved eatery caused some howls from its carnivorous patrons when it announced the change earlier this summer. But after re-opening as non-meat on September 5, owner Paul Holtzman said that the response has been tremendous — with local customers giving full support and new customers coming in from Summit and points further.
As always, the reviews are rapturous:
Said another, “I cannot recommend Cedar Ridge enough… the baked goods are phenomenal
Parking note: Cedar Ridge is in a cozy little residential neighborhood. There is no parking lot; park on street but leave room for locals to get our of their driveways!
