The beloved noodle chain Ani Ramen House is opening up three new NJ outposts this fall, at locations in Maplewood, East Rutherford and Cranford.
Maplewood – September 2019
149 Maplewood Avenue, Maplewood
Munchies Food Hall in American Dream – October 2019
Cranford – Late 2019
109 Walnut Avenue, Cranford
On the menu are the chain’s signature Japanese Ramen bowls with custom noodles by Sun Noodle. Also look for their acclaimed bao buns, homemade crispy gyoza and Japanese Izakaya small plates. Lunch and dinner will be served daily and their new full-service locations will be BYOB dining destinations.
Maplewood residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening, which was announced last year. Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca said then, “We are very excited about adding Ani Ramen to the Maplewood food scene. Our residents and visitors to our town will enjoy their ‘dining experience’ at Ani Ramen. We know the restaurant will be a great success.”
Recently, the Maplewood Planning Board approved a variance for Ani Ramen for a walk-in refrigerator with rear-yard setback, paving the way for a September opening date.
Currently, Ani Ramen has three locations: Montclair, Jersey City and Summit. When the ramen house opened its initial location in Montclair several years ago, lines soon started forming outside and The New York Times posted a review comparing Ani Ramen favorably to Momofuko Noodle Bar in New York City.
Founder/Partner Luck Sarabhayvanija said in a release, “We’re fortunate that our ramen concept has been so well-received, and we are pleased to become part of the Maplewood, Cranford and East Rutherford communities. We’re also planning the rollout of several other New Jersey locations, so be on the lookout for an Ani Ramen coming to a downtown near you soon.”
