Though the weather hasn’t exactly gotten Garden State residents in a summer state of mind, June – and the end of the school year – will be here before we know it. If you haven’t signed up the kids for camp just yet, not to worry, there are plenty of options that appeal to an array of interests.

NJ Next has compiled informative round-ups of offerings available throughout the state. Whether you’re raising an aspiring athlete or a budding artist, you’ll find camps that are sure to keep the little guys busy … and happy!

New Jersey Summer Sports Camps: From Baseball & Soccer to Surfing & Water Polo

From surfing, water polo, and skateboarding to baseball, basketball, and soccer (and lots more)–New Jersey camps are custom made for happy campers.

Yankees Camp offers weeklong sessions in Denville, Basking Ridge, Verona, and Palisades Park throughout the Summer. Campers get a Yankees camp uniform and enjoy a Yankee stadium excursion to meet a current or former Yankee.

South Mountain YMCA has a golf camp, a skateboarding clinic, and a Sports Galore Camp that teaches campers 15 different sports from around the globe.

Great Times Day Camp offers soccer camp, fishing camp, and surfing camp. Regular sports include basketball, pony rides, tennis, soccer, basketball, rope course, boating, hockey, tennis, Gaga Ball, wiffle ball, archery, and zip lining.

NJ Visual Art Camps: Ceramics, Painting, Sculpting, Pottery, Glassblowing, More

Summit’s The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey helps campers to explore painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics. Teens practice two forms of media each week including drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, fiber, and sculpture.

With multiple locations throughout New Jersey, Abrakadoodle offers theme activities blended with art. A few examples: Surfboard art and sand sculptures during Beach Party, creating instruments and posters during Art Rocks, and children make treasure chests and pirate ships during Pirate Island.

Kids Take the Stage at These New Jersey Performing Arts Camp

New Jersey Acting-Performing Arts Theater offers improv comedy, musical theater, intensive acting, dance, and acting for film and TV. SummerStage is for grades 7-12. The Tween Specialty Camp accommodate campers in grades 6 and 8. The Teen Specialty Camps welcome grades 9-12.

The Summer Theater Camp of Montclair provides personalized acting training, theater games, and rehearsal with a production and a cast party with family and friends. Little Summer Stars is for 5-8 year olds. Your World! Your Stage! Your Story! is for ages 7-11 and 12-16 year olds and involves improv, stage combat, and acting and movement exercise. The Main Stage Camp is for 8-11 and 12-16 year olds and consists of personalized acting training, theater games, rehearsals, and a final production in full costume.

NJPAC has 3 camper levels: Apprentice Division campers (10-16 year olds) explore voice, dance, and devised (collaborative and often improv) theater. Artisan Division (12-18) engage in voice, dance, and devised theater and create a performing arts portfolio. Advanced Division (12-18) campers select dance, devised theater, or musical theater and concentrate on just one discipline. Artisan and Advanced Division participants are required to audition for the camp. Other programs include an all-female jazz residency, a hip hop intensive class, a jazz R&B intensive, NJPAC filmmakers, and more.
