July 13th-14th: Maplewoodstock
This summer, Maplewood will be celebrating its 16th annual Music & Arts festival in Memorial Park on the second weekend of July. Maplewoodstock features local, regional, and national musical acts as well as arts and food vendors and a KidsZone. This year, Antibalas and Turkuaz will be headlining. Sister Sparrow will also be performing on Sunday. The festival is free.
July 16th-20th: Burlington County Farm Fair
Get Ready for the 2019 “Family Fun Fair” on the beautiful Burlington County Fairgrounds in Springfield Twp, NJ. It runs from Tuesday to Saturday (the 16-20)!
The Burlington County Farm Fair, Inc. is a non-profit organization which promotes agriculture, social life, and youth. The organization also aims to educate the general public at its annual agricultural fair, which features exhibits, livestock, and farm products. Tens of thousands of visitors attend the fair each year!
July 18th-20th: Cape May County 4-H Fair
This July marks the 50th year that the Cape May County 4-H fair has been held on its current fairgrounds at the Cape May Courthouse. Admission is free, and visitors can enjoy livestock and horse shows, bouncy houses, a Children’s Discovery Farm, a series of “Tent Talks” on agricultural topics, and more. The famous Chicken Bar-Be-Que begins at 5pm each night.
July 24th-28th: Monmouth County Fair
The 2019 Monmouth County Fair will be held Wednesday-Sunday, July 24-28 at the East Freehold Showgrounds. The Fair features a Home and Garden competition, and mainstage entertainment includes Big House Band and Last Whippoorwill.

July 27th-August 3rd: Hot Air Balloon Festival NJ at the Warren County Farmers’ Fair
The Balloon Festival in Warren County, NJ is held annually at the Warren County Farmers’ Fair. Admission, which gets you into both the Balloon Festival and the County Fair, is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 get in for free. The Fair is in its 82nd year of affordable family fun, and the Balloon Festival turns 19 this year!
August 5th-11th: Middlesex County Fair
If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly event, look no further. The Middlesex County Fair Association, Inc. has been bringing families together for 81 years and is excited to bring another summer of fun to local residents! With more than 85,000 visitors annually, it’s one of the biggest events in Middlesex County.
When you visit the fair, you’ll get to explore the rich agricultural heritage that has come to define the county. This year’s event runs from August 5th through the 11th. Call Middlesex County Fair Association at 732-257-8858 to learn more about the festivities!
August 7th-10th: 2019 Somerset County 4-H Fair
This year’s Fair Theme is: Go Anywhere with 4-H! The theme reminds members to think about how 4-H has guided youth and helped them direct their passions. Check club tents to see where 4-H has taken kids this year! The County 4-H fair is a tradition stretching back to the 1940s. Admission is free, and visitors can enjoy tents for art, science and animals. There’s also professional and amateur entertainment.

July 26th-August 10th: Montclair Jazz Festival
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Montclair Jazz Festival with two jam-packed weeks of music! The festival begins with a kickoff dance party with DJ Brother Mister Old School Funk + Soul. (The party’s Friday, July 26th, at 8pm at 18 Label Street.) For the next two weeks, different jazz events will be happening around Montclair – from Sunday backyard concerts to Thursday jazz at the Montclair Brewery and a film screening series. Finally, enjoy jazz at Nishuane Park on Saturday, August 10th, with acts like Betty LaVette and Eddie Palmieri.
August 15th-18th: Passaic County Fair
Check out the annual County Fair at the Garret Mountain Reservation! This year the Fair will be held from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, and 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Highlights include two fireworks shows on Friday and Saturday, amusement rides, a petting zoo and pony rides, Chess Tournament, a full four days of bands, and a daily 50/50 drawing. Thursdays are Family Days at the County Fair, and it is the only day you can purchase a wristband which provides unlimited rides for your child. August 18th: Summit Street Fair
Join the fun from 11am-5pm on Sunday, August 18 with family and friends at the Summit Street Fair and Craft Show! Enjoy live music, dancing, delicious foods, and performances, along with artists, vendors and rides. For the kids, there’s a game trailer, a petting zoo, and martial arts exhibitions! August 24th: 19th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival
Gayborhood Jersey City & the Hudson Pride Center will host the 18th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 from 1-9pm. The Festival will take place on Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Jersey Avenue. This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Past…Creating Our Future,” in recognition of the Stonewall 50 Commemoration & WorldPride 2019. Mainstage entertainment includes headliner Jiggly Caliente, MC Harmonica Sunbeam, and DJ Mike Cruz.
The Jersey City Pride Festival celebrates the diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities and allies of Hudson County and the NYC metropolitan area. It’s the premier LGBT event in Hudson County and one of the largest festivals in the Northern New Jersey region. Jersey City Pride also emphasizes the importance of community diversity, increasing the strength and acceptance of all individuals.
September 14th: New Jersey Storytelling Festival
Each year’s Storytelling Festival features a morning workshop which explores storytelling techniques (registration required; admission free), an afternoon Story Slam where contestants recount personal tales (theme is Hog Wild!), and a lightning round of performances at 5pm. The 2019 festival takes place at the beautiful 19th century Howell Living History Farm in Hopewell.
